Saturday July 19th - Tekserve at the Village Voice Siren Music Festival
Thanks to everyone who attended the Village Voice Siren Festival last Saturday and stopped by the Tekserve booth. Our iPod Drop game was a huge success, we gave away tons of prizes, and everyone had a lot of fun. Check out some pictures from the booth below. We look forward to seeing everyone again next summer!
Wednesday September 26th - Future of Music 2 Event
On Wednesday, September 26th at 8:30pm, Tekserve hosted an exciting events - The Future of Music 2. It was a panel discussion focused on the future direction of the music and recording industry. Hip-Hop activist Harry Allen moderated and asked our panelists - Nile Rodgers, Ron Saint Germain, Kevin Killen and Jim Anderson - a variety of thought provoking questions about how music will be sold, produced, and performed in the future.
The panelists shared great stories about their experiences, and gave us insight into how the music industry worked in the past and the changes that are occurring now. Some highlights of this lively discussion included a debate between Nile Rodgers and Ron Saint Germain about the importance of having an experienced producer as opposed to DIY recording. So what did we learn? It seems that the majority of the audience and the panelists feel that the music industry is constantly improving and evolving with no end in sight, and that, instead of fighting against it, we need to embrace and adapt to it.
Saturday, September 15th: Tekserve Doodles Away at the Cut & Paste Design Competition
Tekserve participated in the NYC leg of the 3rd annual Cut & Paste Design Competition on September 15th, 2007. Located at the Angel Orensanz Foundation located in the Lower East Side at 172 Norfolk Street, the event was packed with over 1200 attendees. A total of 8 contestants designed right before our eyes while we all eagerly waited to see who was going to win the live graphic design competition and walk away with the grand prize including the Adobe Master Collection and a Wacom Cintiq. After a fierce battle, the winner of the contest, Mate (or Jan Mathias Steinforth), was chosen by a collection of design professionals from top design firms in NYC. Tekserve was at the event, hosting a smaller scale design competition of our own on the side, pitting event attendees against each other using Magna-Doodle boards. The winners of each 30-second mini-contest were chosen by a panel of Tekservians and awarded a variety of prizes.

Future of Music Event June 20th, 2007
On June 20th at 8:30pm, Tekserve hosted a discussion panel of music industry professionals who talked about the future of the music industry. The panel was made up of the following professionals:
Bob Power, Award-winning, multi-platinum record producer, mixer, engineer, musician. Credits Include: A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul, Erykah Badu.
Hank Shocklee, Long Island based hip-hop producer. Credits include: Public Enemy, EPMD, Ice Cube.
Nick Sansano, New York-based engineer/producer. Credits include: Public Enemy, Ice Cube, Galactic.
Harry Allen, famed hip-hop intellectual and journalist.
Steve Gordon, New York based entertainment attorney, author and lecturer.
